LFAS Mural Project

Installation & Unveiling Celebration

We were so excited when the installers arrived and began to put up the mural. It was really hard to have them cover it all back up again for the big reveal celebration in two days. We were worried that the wind might take the mural wrapper away, but thankfully it lasted until the unveiling.

It was like opening a big present. So many were there to see the mural reveal: the whole school came out for the unveiling ceremony, students, teachers, staff, neighbours, parents, the LFAS concert band played Nathan Zemp's march for the unveil, the team returned and shared stories of the process (Desi, Danielle, Benoit, Emily, Jill, Hanna), the maintenance guys pulled up the covering, Langley Mayor- Jack Froese said a few words, and so did Susan McCaslin and Kirk Robertson of Wolf (Watchers of Langley Forests), Dr. Craig Montgomery from Trinity Western University, School Trustees, School Board representatives, Langley Town Councilors, even Mrs. Blaauw, who donated the money to preserve the Blaauw forest was there, and our Principal  Jon Bonnar opened it all of.

Danielle's parents (owners of the Rustic Gourmet) brought mini donuts, coffee, and lemonade for everyone. The donuts made it a party. The mural was a huge hit, as the veil lifted, the kids ooh-ed and ahh-ed that they could see a forest. It is a forest of faces.
